Wish I Were There

Well, this is about our third week of really COLD weather - not counting the last 4 months! As I drove my daughter to school this morning there were many cars, trucks, and vans in the ditches on the highway - BLACK ICE. If you live in a state, country, or town who has never heard of this BLACK ICE, count yourself lucky that you don't have to endure winters like these or ever have to experience the road condition called BLACK ICE. It is deadly...I was spared this morning as there was a sanding truck ahead of me on the highway sanding the roads so that there would be no one else perishing in the road condition called BLACK ICE. It usually takes me 30 minutes to drive my daughter to school - this morning it took 60.

How I wish I were back here:
With these people...
Soaking up the warm sunshine...
Having fun...
Just relaxin' and chillin'...
Oh, the life of being in Florida...

But, on the bright side - my youngest daughter Becca and I are on our way to Cuba this coming Saturday for a week long vacation with her high school basketball team. They have fund raised for 2 years and we are all excited for WARM weather...and sandy beaches...and blue Caribbean seas! They will play a few basketball games while we are there and learn salsa dancing and eat the Cuban cuisine (I have heard it is bland, bland, bland). Oh well, maybe the cocktails are tastier!

So, I guess I can put up with the freezing temperatures this week at home knowing that in a few short days I will be soaking up the rays in the Caribbean! :)

As I write you must be feeling the warmth of the sun and not wanting to fly back into the cold and damp northern weather. Yes, I know what it's like to be too far north and wishing for a little southern heat, as well. But, in life sometimes we have to "bloom where we are planted" so I await the emergence of the ground (it's under the snow somewhere) so I can spend a summer digging in the dirt and watching blossoms pop into the sunshine...to warm me, and give me a little comfort when our next winter blows into the north.
